History

The Meta Centre was founded in 1986 by the Ethnic Organization for the Handicapped as a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the provision of services to children and adults with special needs.

Since then, we have continuously focused our services on the needs of a variety of ethnocultural communities within the Greater Toronto Area, advancing our overriding purpose of supporting the integration and inclusion of all people with special needs into Canadian society.

From our first small part-time day and evening respite programs, the Centre has developed a reputation as a responsive and innovative service provider and a leader in the community-based developmental services sector.

Throughout the decades we have distinguished ourselves as being a special place for special people. It is where the support needs of children and adults drive our commitment to our clientele. The needs of those we help are central to our decision-making and long-term operational planning.

Most importantly, our work is to enhance, promote and sustain the social inclusion of every person by collectively creating a richer, more caring and supportive setting for people with special needs. Our ambition is to champion their rights and dignity.
