Warren Harvey, B.Ec., President

Warren Harvey has been a contributing member of Meta Centre's Board of Directors since 2004, having held the office of Vice-President for two terms he is currently  a member of the Finance and Audit Committee.  Warren is an IT industry executive who has held a range of senior positions spanning sales, marketing and General Management in Canada, the United States and Australia.  Having worked with both private and public entities, Warren has led and managed large numbers of staff and is currently the Director of TELUS Cyber Security, helping corporations develop, and sustain cyber security solutions aimed at mitigating data loss, theft of intellectual property and other cyber events.  Warren has an elder sibling with an intellectual disability who lives in a Meta Centre group home in Scarborough.

Jim Johnston, Past President

Jim has served on Meta Centre Board of Directors since 1996.  A graduate of McMaster University, he has worked for IBM Canada for 46 years before retiring as Manager of Contracts and Negotiations. 
Jim is the President and Co-Founder of Concerned Parents of Toronto Inc., a support and advocacy group for families and friends of individuals with a dual diagnosis of intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.  He also served o the Board of the Ontario Chapter of NADD for 13 years and was President for over 25 years with the Friday Night Social Club, a weekly recreational program for adults with special needs.  Jim and his wife Elgi have two adult children with intellectual disabilities who live at home and attend Meta Centre's day program during the week.  As parents, both Jim and Elgi have advocated for those with special needs for the past 40 years.

 

Sarah Hardy, Vice President

Sarah Hardy has been a member of Meta Centre's Board of Directors since 2001.  She has served as President from 2005-2009 and currently chairs the Governance Committee.  Sarah has also been a member of Meta Foundation's Board of Directors since 2005 and is currently Vice-President.

Giuliana Minardi, B. Eng., MBA, Secretary/Treasurer

Giuliana Minardi joined Meta Centre's Board of Directors in 2015.  As Managing Director with RBC Captial Markets, Giuliana is responsible for RBC Financial Group's Global Wholesale loan portfolio credit risk exposure management function and its centralized service delivery functions.  Since joining RBC in the Financial Management program in 1992, Ms. Minardi has steadily increased her responsibilities in senior management roels.  Her positins have covered a broad range of disciplines including Financial Management & Reporting, Commercial Real Estate Banking, Risk Management, Strategic & Financial Planning, Operations, and Recruitment.  Ms. Minardi is a member of the WCM (Women in Capital Markets) and a member of the RBC Executive Mentor Program since 2008.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for Learning for a Sustainable Furture.

Marie Natanson, B.A. (Honours)

Marie Natanson joined Meta Centre's Board of Directors in 2011.  Professionally, Marie is a free-lance journalist, television producer and director.  She has worked at the BBC and CBC in news and current affairs, and has made films in the Middle East, Europe, USA and throughout Canada.  Her latest position was as Executive Producer (CBC) of documentaries, with a particular emphasis on social issues.  With her unit, Marie has won numerous national and international awards (5 Emmys / 2 Peabodys).  She has also served on the Human Rights Watch Film Festival committee and has writtten for Medecins San Frontieres.

Dr.  Alfonso Marino

Dr. Alfonso Marino has been a contributing member of Meta Centre's Board of Directors since 2013, and he is the Board's current Vice-President.  Dr. Marino is a registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  In addition to his private practice where he conducts Independent Insurer Examinations, Disability Assessments, WSIB Assessments and sleep consulations, he is also a member of the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (CRHSPP), Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment (CAPDA), Ontario Psychological Association and Canadian Sleep Society, providing psychotherapy and treatment of various mental health issues, including anxiety and mood disorders such as PTSD, specific phobias, depression, sleep difficulties and pain management.

Kenneth (Ken) Hawkins

Ken Hawkins has been a member of Meta Centre's Board of Directors since 2004.  He also serves on the Board of Governance Committee.  A parent of 4 adult children, Ken is retired, having worked as an insurance professional for over fifty years.  Ken's eldest daughter has an intellectual disability and lives happily in one of Meta Centre's group homes in Scarborough, participating in Day Program activities during the week.

Rita Ristucci, B.A. (Honours)

Rita Ristucci is an active member of Meta Centre's and Foundation Board of Directors since 2005.
 In 2012, Rita created a fundraising event which takes place in April - Ladies' Martini Night, continues to attract participants and supporters as well as raise awareness for Meta Centre.  She and her husband, Elio own and operate a successful frozen foods distribution company.

As a parent of a son with special needs, Rita has always worked diligently in her community to support the intellectually disabled.
